Itinerary

Upon arrival to Vientiane, our guide and driver will be waiting to provide transport to the hotel for check in. After settling in, enjoy the remainder of the day free at leisure to explore the city or visit the bustling Mekong riverside area. Overnight in Vientiane

After breakfast (around 08:30), meet up with the guide in the morning to go over the day’s itinerary. After getting acquainted with the bike equipment, begin the tour at Wat Sisaket, one of the most beautiful temples in the capital. Continue the ride to Wat Phra Keo, which is today used as a religious museum displaying a collection of both Lao and Khmer works of art. Also nearby, is the Presidential Palace. Though it cannot be visited on the inside, its exterior offers some excellent insight into the colonial history of the city. Cycle onwards to Wat Simuang, the most popular and venerated temple in Vientiane, considered the guardian of the spirit of the city. Continue the ride outside the city, cycling through vegetable plantations along the Mekong River. After riding some lesser-used trails passing through Ban Home and Ban Tin Pia, enjoy a local-style lunch in Sala Kham.

After lunch, make a stop at the Mai Savanh showroom and workshop. This shop specializes in high quality silk products and involves several families in the process from the Northern Province of Luang Nam Tha and the southern provinces of Attapeu and Sekong. (Note: Mai Savanh is closed on Saturday & Sunday). Heading back to the main road, cycle to the biggest Beer Lao factory of the country before passing into smaller, residential roads surrounded by paddy fields. Cycle to the great ‘forest temple’ of Vat Sop Pa Luang before heading to the country’s the holiest site in Laos; the That Luang Stupa and Cycle back downtown, finishing the ride around 16:00, depending on the day’s pace and Overnight in Vientiane.

Cycling distance up to 28km
Difficulty: Easy

This morning, meet up with the cycling guide around 08:30 for an introduction to the day’s ride. Instead of visiting the usual temples and touristic sites of Vientiane, the guide will lead a tour to nearby sacred caves and the capital’s diverse surroundings. The first stop will be at Talat Si Khai, to pick up some fresh fruits and snacks for the day. Cycle onwards along a quiet Mekong road before arriving to Vat Tham Paleu Si. This temple cave has a replica of the famous Xieng Thong temple of Luang Prabang! Continue on a dirt road to Vat Tham Pha, a temple cave filled with statues and offering scenic, panoramic views of the Mekong. Stop at a local restaurant for lunch.

Next, pay a visit to the Vat Tham Kok Ma, or the “horses’ cave”, located at the top of a cliff housing representations of the 12 Lao Zodiac animals. Similar to the Chinese Zodiac, Laos has a 12-year cycle, each related to an animal. Cycle away from the riverside along rice fields and fish farms. Cycle back Downtown to the hotel or to the Fa Ngum park behind the Presidential Palace, arriving around 16:00, depending on the day’s pace.Overnight in Vientiane.

Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source.
