The objects on display convey the process of building, fighting and growing of the army and people along Ho Chi Minh Trial as well as stories of the heroic Truong Son soldiers in the war of resistance and during the national renovation, the solidarity of three Indochinese countries on the legendary: “Ho Chi Minh Trail”. This will be a great opportunity to listen to their stories and learn about the Vietnamese experience during the war. The museum especially illustrates the victory of Hanoi people and armed forces over the US strategic B-52 air raid in late December 1972. Vietnam’s determined soldiers, pilots and militiamen shot down 81 of the raiding aircraft, including 34 of the giant B52s. The last stop is Long Bien Bridge (originally named Doumer Bridge), built in 1902 by Sir Gustave Eiffel’s company, it’s the symbol of courageous capital in wars. More than 100 years with decades of war, Long Bien Bridge was bombed many times by air attacks by American army in 1967, 1972; and many spans of the bridge were destroyed. The left spans still remaining today remind us of an unforgettable past. Then, you will have lunch before starting your afternoon tour.

Historic objects exhibited here are not only Vietnamese origin but also consists other culture like China, Japan, Thailand and especially Champ with more than 50 stone-engraved back to 7th-13th centuries. Continue walking around the Old Quarter of Hanoi, also known as the 36 streets. This bustling area of narrow streets is home to thousands of small businesses and shopkeepers. Hang Gai Street offers silk clothing ready-made and tailored, embroidery, and silver products. Hang Quat, the street that formerly sold silk and feather fans, now stuns the visitor by its brilliantly colored funeral and festival flags and religious objects and clothing. To Tich Street connects the above two and is still the wood turner’s street. Hang Ma glimmers with shiny paper products, such as gift wrappings, wedding decorations and miniature paper objects to burn for the dead. Lan Ong Street is a sensual delight of textures and smells emanating from the sacks of herbal medicinal products: leaves, roots, barks, and powders. Enjoy your shopping time!
